New Painting Alert

I'm happy to share a new painting that is warming my heart on a cold winter day!!

Winter Sunset in the Cornfield

Winter has a way of simplifying the landscape, and I find that clarity especially compelling when painting. Winter Sunset in the Cornfield was inspired by the fleeting moments when the sun sinks low in the sky and winter light transforms snow into something luminous and unexpected.

As the sun sets, the snow catches the light in soft layers of color—pale golds, gentle pinks, and cool shadows stretching across the field. What might seem like a quiet, even stark scene begins to glow with warmth. I was drawn to that contrast: the cold of winter balanced by the tenderness of sunset light.

The cornfield, stripped down to its essential forms, becomes a pattern of lines and rhythm beneath the snow. These remnants of the growing season add structure and memory to the landscape, reminding me of what came before and what will return. Painting this piece allowed me to focus on subtle shifts in value and color, letting the light do most of the work.

I approached this painting with loose, expressive brushwork, allowing the surface to reflect the softness of snow and the gentle fading of daylight. Rather than capturing every detail, I wanted to convey the feeling of standing in that quiet space—when the world feels still, and the day exhales into evening.

Winter Sunset in the Cornfield is a meditation on winter’s quieter beauty and the way light can transform even the most familiar places. It’s a reminder that warmth can be found even in the coldest seasons, if we take the time to notice.

If you want to inquire about this painting it is an Oil on canvas panel, 9x12 in It can be put in a frame of yours choosing. text to 978-239-7120
